Pike, Rev. J.G. A Guide for Young Disciples of the Holy Savior, in their way to immortality, forming a sequel to Persuasives to Early Piety ... Published by The American Tract Society, 150 Nassau-Street, New-York. D. Fanshaw, Printer.

12mo (154 x 98mm), pp. 465, [1], with engraved frontispiece. Bound in contemporary mottled sheep, spine gilt in compartments with light yellow roan lettering-piece. Early ink gift inscription to front free endpaper; bookplate and ink stamps of MHS.

Published by the American Tract Society, this little volume would have been used by students in Sunday school, as the prefatory address states: "The principal object of this little book, is to assist you in your Christian pilgrimage" (pp. 7-8). First published in the early 1820s, it was clearly popular enough among Sunday school instructors to warrant further editions.

This copy was given to a Mr. Samuel Shelley from his sister: "1847 / Mr. Samuel Shelley- / presented by his sister / February 19 1847".
