Burgundy long wool dress originally belonging to Isabel Halstead Palmer. It was worn as her going away outfit after her wedding to Clarence Pittman Morrell on September 26, 1905 in Staten Island, NY. The dress is indicative of the evolving style of women's dresses in the early 20th century, which did away with wide skirts, structured crinoline, and large sleeves of the late 19th century and favored a much thinner look. This dress includes a similar burgundy bolero jacket with a deep "V" neckline with large velvet buttons at the waist.
