Dwight Class Photo

black and white
Class Portrait of students from the Winter of '87 and '88 standing towards the right side and front of the Dwight School building. The school building has one chimney, two doors, windows with shutters, and what appears to be the casing for the school bell. There are leafless trees on the school property. "Timothy Dwight, pastor of the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church and later president of Yale College, founded the original Dwight Academy in 1786. The building seen in this photograph was constructed in 1854 after the Academy was taken over as a district school about 1835. The principal, W.E. Gardner, and assistant principal, Etta Perry, are at the left in this picture taken during the 1887/88 school year." This information was found in Images of America Fairfield Connecticut by Barbara Austen and Barbara Bryan.
