Katherine (Kay) Wyrick was interviewed by Sharoll Williams-Love on 05-22-1997 for the African American Oral History Project conducted by the Mattatuck Museum. Kay was born in 1923 in Hartford and came to Waterbury at the age of 13. After she got married, she worked at Scovill Manufacturing during WWII. She was a founding member of the NAACP Youth Council in Waterbury and the PRIDE (Preserving Racial Identity through the Development of Education) Center. Her oral history interview discusses racism, activism, and the African American community in Waterbury.
