Ted Hatcher was interviewed by Maxine Watts on 02/10/1998 for the African American Oral History Project. In his interview he speaks about how his family migrated to Waterbury, life in Waterbury, and the many organizations he was a member of. Hatcher was a member of the NAACP branch in Waterbury since the 1940s, he was on the board of the Pearl Street Neighborhood House, and he was a Mason. Because of his involvement with the Pearl Street Neighborhood House, he speaks at length about Leila Alexander, the first director of the house and local community activist.
