"To all people whom these presents shall come, I William Van Aelstyn of Hudson in the County of Colombia and State of New York yeoman send greeting. Know ye that I the said William Van Alstyn, for and in the consideration of the natural love and affection which thaue and bear unto my son Lawrence Van aelstyn of the same placed yeoman and also for other good causes and considerations me thereunto moving. Have given and granted and by these presents do give, grant and confirm unto the said Lawrence Van Aelstyn  and his heirs and assigns forever one Negro Boy called Tom about ten years of age now my actual Slave and in my actual possesion. To have and to hold the said egro Boy abovementioned unto said Lawrence Van Aelstyn,his heirs, executors, forever. And I the said William Van Aelstyn, the said Negro Boy to the said Lawrence Van Aelstyn his executors, administrators, and assigns against all persons do warrent and defend by these presents. In wilness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this Ninetenth  day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety three.
