Soft paste porcelain dessert plate. Raised design of rose leaves and buds with butterfly and small sprigs of flowers. This design was originated in the Chelsea, England, porcelain factory of Dr. Wall, and was also produced at his Worcester factory in the 1750s. In the 19th century, the pattern was named for the Earl of Coventry, who lost his sight in a riding accident. He ordered a service in this pattern so that he could feel the raised decoration.
Note: This plate at one point also had the # SHS 507, but that number also belonged to a silver spoon. SXHS 507 has been removed from the plate, and belongs to the spoon.
