Photo taken from Green of front and north facae of 99 Main Street. Two story white clapboard house. Large front gable with porch on three sides. Barn endent in rear to right of house on photo. Elm trees on lawn and Green. From rear of photo, " Dr. Chaffee's house. The house now, 1960 occupied by Mrs. Charles Rees. This is one of the earliest if not the earliest house in Sharon. Built in 17 (39? ) on the 26th home lot by Nathaniel Skinner. Various records tend to prove that a town meeting was held in it in 1739. Later, as was the case with many houses in the town, it became a tavern. "
