A clipping of an article from Antiques and The Arts Weekly entitled American Paintings & Sculpture Bring $4.2 Million At Bonhams about an American art sale in the West Coast salesroom at Bonhams & Butterfields in California. One of the featured artists was Gilbert Davis Munger. Munger was an artist born in Madison, Connecticut, who achieved international fame through his landscape paintings. At this auction, his painting entitled A Small Encampment, El Capitan, in Yosemite Valley sold for $183,250. It was reportedly so accurate that Yale University's geology department used his work to research the formations.
