August 2006
Letters from the Clinton Fine Arts Workshop to the Madison Historical Society, attention Beverly Montgomery, Curator of Collections, pertaining to a portrait of Parnell Kelsey (1781-1860).
2 letters (3 sheets : 2 + 1) ; 21.5 x 28 cm.

The first letter is dated August 25, 2006. It describes the current conservational state of the painting and recommends restoration procedures. The letter is unsigned

The second letter is dated Augst 26, 2006. It calls into question whether George Munger (1781-1825) could have painted the portrait. The restoration consultation revealed that the canvas had been prepared by a man named Edward DeChaux of New York, who had worked from 1835 -1865.
