This is a carte de visite of Elsie Rowland, later Elsie Rowland Chase. This photograph is found in a photograph album from the Records of the Chase Collegiate School. Elsie was a graduate of Saint Margaret's School and she was a painter who largely painted still lives and portraits. She studied at the Yale School of the Fine Arts from 1884 to 1889. The Mattatuck Museum has several examples of her work in their collection.
