While there is not an author listed on the title page, it's very likely that this was compiled by Kenneth T. Howell, the historian hired by Scovill. He wrote a History of the Abel Porter and Company, also in 1952.
This history goes into great depth on the founding of Abel Porter and Company, the organization of Scovill in 1850, types of products produced by the company, and the types of labor required to do the work. Of special note are the sections on Hard Times tokens, photography, and the strikes of 1887 and 1901.
