Pin, Chatfield Guard

Metal pin, with a hinged brooch pin fastening on the back (pin missing). The top pin bar reads "Chatfield Guard / 1854" in navy blue writing set in a banner over two crossed guns and "A2" (For Company A, Second Regiment). Hanging from the pin bar is a pendant with linked letters "CGN". 
The Chatfield Guard was a Waterbury militia company formed during the Civil War, named after Col. John Chatfield, who died of war wounds August, 1863. The Chatfield Guard was formed less than two month after his death and merged with Company A, Second Regiment.
