This frothy white bodice made from lace and lined with silk gauze is from the National Cloak & Suit Company, which was a large department store in New York.
The bodice has a fashionably uncommon cut. It is short at the back and extends to two longer points at the front. It has a long lace collar frill that tapers down the center front opening. It has faux revers midway down the front made from white satin. It closes with snaps under lace edging. The lace fabric has an abstract all-over pattern alternating with different densities of openwork. The seams are made with entredeux. The sleeves are just below elbow length and have a cuff. The hem is faced with the lining fabric.
A white tag with blue script reads, "National Cloak & Suit Co. / New York" on the right corner of the lining.
