A black and white photograph of Mary Elizabeth Scranton, who is seated in front of a backdrop with a column on a pedestal surrounded by foliage. She wears a striped silk taffeta dress, under a dark colored paletot jacket with Chantilly lace accents and a frogged closure. In her left hand she holds a very petite parasol with a long spike. Her dress has a small lace collar with a cameo brooch, and a snood headdress.
The back has been written on with a short biography, however it is completely inaccurate. It reads, "Mary Elizabeth Prudden Scranton born 1785, daughter of Newton Prudden and his wife, Elizabeth Northrup.*> married 1806 Rev. Erastus Scranton, b. 1777, d. 1861 // *believed to be incorrect; married Rev. Gardener Brown 1838, divorced; married Philemon Scranton She was married to Brown by Rev. Erastus Scranton (see People file)"
Condition: Very Good.
