1837

Coll. 004 Fold. 001 Doc. 012.  Letter to Charles L. Meech from Annie Meech.
One page, yellowed paper, very thin.  9.75" x 15.5", 5 vertical folds, 2 horizontal.  Several places where the paper has worn so thin there are holes, majority of these on the inner right-hand side.  Address on an outside section, along with the following note: "I know you despise a wafer seal but I have not yet got my trunk and can do no better -Ann. Oh such a pen!"

Letter does not give a month, only the 6th, '37.  Begins by noting Ann (Annie) is writing from home, and arrived about 11.  She notes that Charles' mother has not written, because "she thought Noyes would write all that would interest you, but [Ann] know[s] there is nothing like a letter from home".  It notes that in Charles' last letter he said he was ill, and the family is anxious to know if the illness is serious or not.  Discusses the workings from the farm, selling Buckwheat, and the family.  Notes that she surprised the family by coming home and did not tell them she would arrive, only walked into the house "into the kitchen- found Mother in the pantry as usual".
