Eight-page commemorative newspaper, "The World's Opinion," published in Bridgeport, Connecticut, May 30, 1891, several weeks after P. T. Barnum's death.  The purpose of this newspaper was to bring together a variety of articles from different sources about Barnum and his business partner, James A. Bailey.  Barnum's death on April 7, 1891, was widely reported in the press, both nationally and internationally, often with lengthy articles describing his life and career.  The subtitle of this paper states, "As Expressed by the Columns of the Daily Press," however the copy is almost exclusively drawn from New York and Boston newspapers, including the Boston Herald; Boston Daily Globe; New York Herald; New York Daily Tribune; New York Recorder; and several others.  Also noted in the heading in upper case letters: "Mr. Barnum's death considered a great national loss, and the show the Greatest on Earth, which is to continue forever a delight to the whole country."  The centerfold of the paper, pages 4 and 5, is an advertisement for the Barnum & Bailey Greatest Show on Earth, with many colorful and evocative descriptions of the numerous attractions, the show's impressive scale, and its immense expense.  The publication date and place appear in bold letters at the bottom of the last page.
