Printed invitation from Mr. and Mrs. P.T. Barnum, dated January 10, in an envelope hand-addressed to Mrs. Mary Stevens (name only, no location). The invitation is to visit them between four and seven o'clock at their home Waldemere, located in the Seaside Park area of Bridgeport, Connecticut. No year is given, therefore one must infer that the invitation was made sometime between 1869 and 1888 when Barnum lived at Waldemere, his third home in Bridgeport. During this time period his first wife, Charity Hallett Barnum died, and he was soon remarried to and Englishwoman, Nancy Fish. It is unknown which Mrs. Barnum the invitation came from.
