1830s (Date manufactured/created)
1840s (Date manufactured/created)
Leather, Cloth
This shoe has lost its pair, but the one slipper remaining is not made any less dazzling. The main textile of this shoe is woven with teal and glittering silver metallic thread, creating a geometric pattern. The narrowly tongued vamp is decorated with tightly pleated matching teal silk. The brown leather sole has a square toe almost equal in width to the ball of the foot and has no heel. It is lined at the heel and quarter with white leather and the upper is lined with white linen. The inner sole is also of white leather. The topline is bound with blue cotton tape.
Condition: Good. Silver has tarnished and inner sole has been eaten away at by a pest.  L: 9"; W: 2 1/4"; H: 1 5/8".
