Treadle or flax wheel. Simultaneously puts a twist into the yarn and winds the yarn onto the bobbin. The drive wheel is turned by a foot treadle and both hands are used to draw the fiber. The treadle "footman" is missing. The diameter of the wheel is 18.5", overall height is 37.5". Very ornately carved by hand on lather, probably 19th century. "11K" is carved on the end of the bench by a tension screw.
