The house is located four and a half miles east of the village, a few hundred feet north of Sharon Mountain Road.  One of the earliest houses built on the Gray homestead.  John Gray (Darius' father) was a Scot who came to Sharon in 1743 and first settled in Sharon Valley.  After his marriage in 1747 he purchased the Sharon Mountain property from John Mills.  John Gray died in 1761.
Darius married Abigail and they lived in the house.  The actual size of their family is unknown but there was at least one son, Silas, born in 1784.  Darius deeded the house to Silas in 1808, retaining a small number of acres and a dwelling for he and his wife.  Silas sold the house to Enoch P. and George W. Peck.  Darius' house fell into disuse shortly after the turn of the century.
Much of the information in the paper came directly from Frank N. Spencer and from notes he left on his death in 1963.
