81 Main Street, "Middlebrook House" Tax Lot 26/31
Picture shows a 2.5 story white-painted brick house with a 2 story white clapboard addition to the rear. The building is side-gabled..and built on a concrete block foundation.
The roof is of medium-colored shingles. The second story on the front has five windows with dark shutters., There are four windows on the first floor, also with dark shutters.
There is a a Victorianized entry in the center of the front of the building.. This has a compound roof with a front gable. However, the stairs enter from the side. The gable is decorated with wood bands painted in a dark color against a light background. The railing is cut wood, reminiscent of the railing originally at 47 Main.
The side gable has a window on each floor, also with dark shutters. There is a small window in the center of the gable. There is a distinctive pattern of wood decorating the gable. Boards are laid flat veridically with points on the bottoms. The bottom edge of these boards form a rounded pattern starting just below the eaves of the front of the building.
The addition in the back has a flat roof and a chimney, Each side has one window on a floor.
Further behind is what appeared to be a stable. There is a horse and carriage (they are unhitched)
The north side of 73 Main is visible. There is a white picket fence in between. There is an elm in front, medium aged.
There are three men and a woman standing in front, in early 20th Century dress. One is holding a bicycle. The street and sidewalks are unpaved.
In the left background is a bit of the back of 73 Main Street, Tax Lot 26/30.
