Blackjack

This police issue blackjack was used by former police chief John A. Dolan, who was police chief from at least 1928 to 1946. It is made of a leather braid looped around a leather covered lead handle. It was commonly used by police of the time for neutralizing hostile individuals and in some cases crowd control. John Dolan was the town's first police chief, after the department was created in 1924 and the Blackjack was found in his former home in 1998.
