Drum is large, dark red outside with white roping. Drum belonged to Phineas Meigs Griswold born in 1839, died in 1929. Fred H. Griswold's father's grandfather. He played in the Madison Drum Corps. Phineas married Ann Camp. Fred's father was the Drum Major of the Westbrook Drum Corps from 1923 until his death. Look inside hole in drum body to see label "Manufactured by Emerson Parmelee (something crossed out) 1886". See pg. 66 in Pictorial History of Killingworth, 1976.
