Windsor, CT Tax Records 1865-1914

Windsor, Connecticut. Tax Lists

1865 – 1914 (Date manufactured/created)
1865 – 1914 (Earliest/Latest dates)
Collection of approximately 100 bound volumes containing individual property tax inventories for the Town of Windsor. The volumes span the years 1865 to 1914. Most of the years have separate volumes for "North of the Bridge," "South of the Bridge," and "Poquonock District" but the collection is not entirely complete. The bridge crossed the Farmington River at Palisado Avenue. Each page lists the real property, its value and abutters, and other personal taxable property such as livestock, shares of stock, clocks and watches, and mechanics tools. Out of town property owners are listed separately at the end of the volume.
The volumes are quarter bound with black spines and gold lettering. Each volume 8.5" x 14" and between one and three inches thick.
An inventory chart of the volumes by year and district is attached via the Media icon and is also included in the library subject file Windsor -- Taxes.

The collection presumably was transferred to WHS from the Windsor Town Hall, perhaps when the new town hall was constructed. No donor record found.
