Pocket sized account book contains the June 30, 1899 assessment or call to vote to 'lay a tax' of six mills on the taxpayers of the Second School Society (District) for th purpose of maintaining Elm Grove Cemetery. Resident taxpayers are listed alphabetically followed by non-resident taxpayers with the amount due and the date paid. At end of the volume is a list of those men who paid a poll tax in 1899 or 1900 and the charge to the tax collector James N. Dickson from James J. Merwin, Justice of the Peace.

Charles A. Huntington was Clerk of Second School Society for many years.
