Pocket diary for the year 1860 attributed to David Josiah Ellsworth (1840-1932) of Windsor, CT. Entries written by a young man describe going to school on East Windsor Hill part of the year; daily farming tasks, the crops grown and harvested, and the names of men who assisted him; leisure time pursuits such as parties and sleighing, going to Hartford for concerts and political meetings, and attending Sunday church meetings. The names of family members were used to discern the diary's author. 2.5" x 4" worn and scuffed brown leather; flap tab inserts into slit on front cover.

David Josiah Ellsworth (January 27, 1840 - March 27, 1932) was the son of David and Huldah (Pinney) Ellsworth and the nephew of Erastus Ellsworth of East Windsor and Leavitt Ellsworth of Windsor.
