A catalog for Connecticut Historical Society exhibition of the same name. A richly illustrated book with history and social history of the signs and of Early American travel. An article on Morgan Brainard (1879-1957) by Ellsworth Grant honors the man who collected the tavern signs that would eventually be donated to the Connecticut Historical Society. Page 9 contains photo and text of the Windsor Historical Society's Bissell-Sill tavern sign, which was on loan to CHS for this exhibition.
