Photograph of Catherine Maria Phelps (b. 28 June 1867), daughter of Timothy S. and Ellen (Ellsworth) Phleps, (Mrs. Oliver William Mills), the mother of Marguerite E. Mills. The photo shows the subject as a young woman posed in a studio with her hand on a large boulder with a drop showing birch trees in the background. She is dressed in a two piece dark dress with layered, pleated skirt and bodice with contrasting colored bands surrounding the buttons up and down the front and on the sleeves. Lace ruffles at neck and edge of sleeves. She is holding the handle of a parasol.
