Geneva Bible
Gillette Family Bible

1600 – 1700 (Earliest/Latest dates)
Leather-bond Geneva Bible once owned by the Jonathan Gillet family and passed down in the Gillette-Holcomb family of Windsor. Jonathan Gillet came to Windsor with the other English settlers from Dorchester, Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Family lore states that the Bible was swiped by the claws of a bear as it sat propping open a window. Hence, the family refers to the book as the "Bear Bible". Alternatively, the book may have been tied with string for an extended time, causing the deformities of its pages.
