Handwritten copy of Sgt. John J. O'Brien's diary, dated 7-15-42 until 10-12-44. Pages are laminated and tied together with a red ribbon. The laminated pages are enclosed in a brown 12" x 17" portfolio entitled "Saga of the 57th Fighter Group, 1942-1944."
The 57th Fighter Group was the first fighter group to train at Windsor Locks Air Force Base (later named Bradley Field) during World War II. The donor, Charles E. Filer, was a Windsor resident and the group's Maintenance Officer.
