Hayden Station History

Manuscript

1962 (Date manufactured/created)
15 page typewritten manuscript researched and written by Grace Lucretia Clapp (1881-1965). Miss Clapp read this paper during an audio recording taped on Feb. 2, 1962 by Kenneth Barber for the Windsor Historical Society. The paper describes the history of the Hayden Station village of Windsor, CT including its early settlers, homesteads, and taverns; church communities, schools, Hayden Station Social Club, agriculture and buisinesses, changes creted by the railroad, notable citizens, and a bibliography. A copy of the manuscript has been created in Microsoft Word by WHS staff and volunteers. In large part it corresponds accurately to the audio recording. However, Miss Clapp notes one error in particular which she corrected after the recording was made: on page 11 she referred to the trolley with dates of 1903-1926 rather than 1940. The Word document is located at M:\Oral Histories62.31_CLAPP
