Stratosphere Smokers' Stand (Chase Item No. 17076) was designed for Chase by Walter von Nessen. The stand is comprised of a hollow sphere mounted on a fluted tubular post. The top half of the sphere is not hinged but swings down in any direction when in use, while the bottom half serves as a bowl to hold ashes and cigarette ends. Inside the bowl there is a rest for holding and snuffing out cigarettes. The stand is designed so that when the top is closed, no unsightly ashes are visible and there are no lingering fumes. The round base is heavily weighted to prevent tipping. The entire stand is finished in combination of chromium and black.
