The 1936-37 Chase catalog notes: "This shining Cocktail Ball is just the thing for serving cocktail sausages, tiny fish balls, olives wrapped in bacon, and other hors d'oeuvres." The ball was sold with red toothpicks to match the maroon rubber base.
